8 Fire Alarm Activations in 2010
January 28, 2010

"A" building -- Smoke detector in the 4th floor northwest trash room was activated at 1:52 a.m.  Cause was most likely due to dust generated by trash or vacuum bag being emptied in the trash room.

February 16, 2010

"F" building -- Smoke Detector in the Anchor Club was activated at 1:52 p.m. Cause was due to the excessive dust form the demolition of the Anchor Spa. The building will be placed on test and staff will go on fire watch while the spa renovation project continues. Our sincere apologies for the alarm and inconvenience.

February 18, 2010

"F" building -- Smoke Detector in the Anchor Club was activated at 5:38 p.m. Cause was due to residual dust remaining from the earlier spa reconstruction work that had not cleared properly before staff removed the building from test mode. Our apologies for the alarm and the inconvenience.

February 20, 2010

"D" building -- Smoke Detector activated in the "D" building pool and spa boiler room at 6:58 a.m. Pool pump motor failed resulting in smoke. Pool shut down until a replacement pump is installed. 

February 27, 2010

"D" building -- Smoke detector activated in employee break area at 10:48 p.m.  Security employee was on an on duty break and placed bread in toaster. Employee was then called to assist an owner and left the toast unattended, resulting in burnt toast. Our apologies for the alarm and the inconvenience. 

February 28, 2010

"C" building -- Smoke detector activated in the hallway outside of unit C202 at 8:16 p.m. Cause was a due to a resident in C202 burning a steak.


May 15, 2010

"C" building -- Smoke detector activated in the lobby at 6 Commodore at 5:25 a.m. Cause of activation is unknown.


May 21, 2010

"B" building -- Smoke detector activated in the hallway outside of unit B278 at 10:44 p.m. Cause was a due to a resident in B278 burning some toast.

 
14 Fire Alarm Activations in 2009

April 20, 2009:

"F" Building--Smoke detector on 2nd floor outside of unit F204 activated at 6:42 p.m. Alarm was caused by burnt food in F204.

April 24, 2009:

"A" Building--Smoke detector on 3rd floor outside of unit A314 activated at 12:38 p.m. Alarm was due to a contractor working in unit A314.

May 9, 2009:

"C" Building--Smoke detector activated near center elevator in garage at 4:04 a.m. The source of smoke is most likely from the exhaust from a motorcycle heard warming up near the smoke detector at the time the alarm activated.

June 8, 2009:

"A" Building--Smoke detector activated outside of unit A371 at 6:29 p.m. Cause of event was burnt food in unit A371.

June 9, 2009:

"
F" Building--4 Anchor Lobby smoked detector activated at 5:11 a.m. Cause unknown.

July 4, 2009:

"E" Building--Smoke detector activated outside of unit E203 at 5:23 p.m. Cause of event was a grease fire on stove top in unit E203.

July 22, 2009:

"B" Building--Smoke detector on 2nd floor near northeast stairwell door activated at 12:48 p.m. Cause of alarm is unknown.

September 24, 2009:

"A" Building--Smoke detector of 4th floor southeast trash room was activated at 12:58 p.m.  Cause was most likely due to dust generated by dust up trash or vacuum bag being emptied.

October 5, 2009:

"B" Building--Smoke detector of 2nd floor northwest trash room was activated at 13:32 p.m.  Cause was most likely due to dust generated by trash or vacuum bag being emptied.

October 13, 2009:

"F" Building--Smoke detector in 5 Commodore elevator machine room was activated at 8:56 a.m. due to a maintenance-related problem with the elevator jack equipment.

November 2, 2009:

"B" Building--Manual pull station activated by the WCA maintenance supervisor who notice a mattress  on fire near the 5 Commodore garage entrance.  A Stanley Steamer carpet cleaning van parked on top of a mattress.  The employees carelessly left the engine running while the vehicle was left unattended on top of the matters setting it ablaze.  The fire was put out with no major property damage.

November 9, 2009:

"B" Building--Smoke detector on 4th floor outside of unit B443 activated at 12:29 a.m. Alarm was caused by burnt food in the microwave in unit B443.

December 2, 2009:

"B" Building--Smoke detector on 1st floor stairwell at 4 Admiral activated at 10:41 a.m. when  a protective cover was placed over device to prevent device from activating due to planned maintenance work in the area.

December 22, 2009:

"E" Building--Smoke detector of 4th floor northwest trash room was activated at 7:27 p.m.  Cause was most likely due to dust generated by trash or vacuum bag being emptied.


 
10 Fire Alarm Activations in 2008

January 8, 2008:

"F" Building--Heat detector in F418 activated for 1 minute and reset.  Cause unknown.

January 18, 2008:

"F" Building--Smoke detector on 2nd floor outside of unit F238 activated at 6:18 p.m. Cause of event was burnt food.

February 28, 2008:.

"D" Building--Smoke detector on 1st floor outside of unit D154 activated at 7:46 a.m.  Cause of event was burnt food.

April 21, 2008:

"F" Building--Smoke detector on 4th floor outside of unit F452 activated at 6:08 p.m.  Cause of event was burnt food.

August 8, 2008:

"B" Building--Smoke detector on 4th floor outside of unit B401 activated at 4:59 p.m.  Cause of event was a cooking fire.

September 29, 2008:

"C" Buildng--Smoke detector in bike storage room activated at 3:15 p.m.  The source of smoke is unknown, but the most likely source could be from an individual smoking, or from an event created by a bike room user that may have created a dust up triggering the smoke detector.

October 5, 2008:

"D" Building--Manual pull station pulled by known resident at 14:49 p.m. outside of 4 Commodore Drive lobby.  Resident was observed on our security cameras and is scheduled for a hearing before the Board of Directors.

November 2. 2008:

"
F" Building--2nd floor trash room smoke detector was activated by an unknown event.

December 9, 2008:

"C" Building--7 Captain lobby smoke detector activated at 3:35 p.m. when maintenance staff was repairing (grinding down) a metal elevator swing door,  Alarm was reactivated a few minutes later when the alarm was improperly reset.

December 26, 2008:

"D" Building--Smoke detector outside of unit D259 was activated at 4:40 p.m. when a resident burned food on stove top. 


 
10 Fire Alarm Activations in 2007

February 14, 2007:

"F" Building--Smoke detector activated in 2 Anchor Drive 4th floor trash room at 3:30 a.m.

March 17, 2007:

"C" Building--Smoke detector activated in 8 Commodore Drive 4th floor hallway outside of unit C452 around 6:25 p.m. Burned food in oven appears to have activated smoke detector.

March 17, 2007:

"C" Building--Smoke detector activated in 5th floor bridge near unit C504. Fumes from painting activities in common area appear to have moved through an open smoke door activating the device.

July 1, 2007:

"E" Building--Smoke detector activated in 2nd floor outside of unit E261 around 9:58 a.m. Resident tried to extinguish a small kitchen grease fire with water. Resident then opened unit door to hallway activating the general building fire alarm.

September 2, 2007:

"F" Building--Smoke detector activated in 2 Anchor Drive 3rd floor trash room at 1:53 p.m. Security reports a whiff of cigarette smoke in the immediate area which is the most likely explanation for the general building fire alarm.

September 15, 2007:

"C" Building--Smoke detector activated outside of "C" center elevator located in the garage at 9.55 a.m. The source of smoke is unknown, but the most likely source could be from an individual smoking or from an auto exhaust from a vehicle idleing for a period of time near the elevator.

October 24, 2007:

"A" Building--Manual pull station pulled by unknown prankster at 6:36 p.m. in the southwest 1st floor stairwell at 6 Admiral Drive.

November 22, 2007:

"D" Building--Smoke detector on 4th floor activated at 4:00 a.m. Cause is unknown.

November 22, 2007:

"D" Building--Smoke detector on 4th floor activated at 5:22 a.m. Cause was unknown. A new device was installed that same morning as a precaution.

December 24, 2007:

"E" Building--Smoke detector on 2nd floor outside of unit E236 activated at 8:46 p.m. Cause of event was burnt food.
